Artifice and Intelligence
I’ve mentioned Escape Pod before, how their podcast of SF short stories helps make my commute a little more bearable. Well, for those of you who follow this blog, today’s story, Artifice and Intelligence by Tim Pratt, will be of particular interest. I won’t spoil it by saying why. ;) ETA: Seriously, you need to download the mp3 and give the story a listen. It’s only like 20 minutes...

Mysdirection>BoingBoing
Yeah, yet again, I beat BoingBoing to the punch, which is nothing new, really*, but this time, they linked off of Maureen’s blog which linked off of mine. Hmph. So Cory reads her blog but not mine. But then again, Maureen IS much more winsome than I. Maybe if I tell them I’m a friend of Jane’s….hmm. Sigh. Always a bridesmaid. A gazelle-swift bridesmaid, but a bridesmaid...

ARG: noun-ARG adjective- ARG·ish; verb- ARGed,...
I dunno, I’m just struck today how the term Alternate Reality Gaming (ARG) has really taken hold in mainstream use. People use it so nonchalantly now, like everyone should know what they mean. I mean, even Wil Wheaton calls ‘em ARGs now: “I hope they’ll continue with the ARG and maybe show a few glimpses of what was happening for other people in NYC on that...

Now that I’ve got your attention….. It’s time to get involved in a little guerilla art project. So, join me in making a baby! Or two! All you need is packing tape, something sharp, and some plastic wrap. You can use a doll as a mold to make babies, and then be a part of Mark Jenkins’ Storker Project. Make a tape baby, snap a picture and send it in. Click here for...

For any of you interested, or who speak German (and you know who you are), here’s a German Media podcast that includes an interview with a cute, winsome puppetmaster I know, talking about ARGs.

Is it false advertising when a trailer bears no...
David Pogue brings up this question in an interesting article in the New York Times regarding the new film National Treasure: Book of Secrets. In it, he lays out numerous instances of scenes shown in the trailer that were not in the film anywhere: “For example, in one of the trailers, there are shots of the pyramids and other Egyptian landmarks. None of the movie takes place in Egypt.”...

A little under the weather...
Sorry things have been quiet lately. I’ve been basically sick as a dog since New Year’s Eve (Look at that happy guy below. He has no idea what’s in store for him later in the evening…and not in a good way.) Strep Throat is definitely a possibility, but hopefully I’ll get whatever it is taken care of and be back on track in a few days. *hack*  *sinffle* *cough* *gag*...
